Where do I begin??? This is a cover of “YMCA,” in Finnish, from Finnish television. It is not Fred Armisen on SNL.

Yes, I am white and nerdy…
As usual (and in perfect form), I seem to be the last person to know about this, but anyway… today I am addicted to “Weird Al” Yankovic’s latest video: “White & Nerdy.”
And of course, to prove my nerdiness, I’ve downloaded it to my iPod — along with another one of my favorite videos.
And now your daily dose of sheer ridiculousness…
Shockingly lame, mildly offensive (probably moreso if you’re Native American), yet hilariously ill-conceived and even more hilariously ill-executed, we have this music video for a disco-fied version of the oft-covered surf rock hit “Apache.”
I can’t make out the name of the band written on the bass drum head, and it doesn’t seem to match any listed here.
Although I will never recover the precious minutes of my life wasted watching this, and I may never even know the name of the band (so I can take care to avoid them in the future), at least one good thing came of this: my discovery of the Second Hand Songs site, which is actually a pretty cool idea!
Update (September 29, 2006): I guess I should’ve just checked Google Video… there, we have the song identified as the work of the Tommy Seebach Band.
Snakes on a Plane
OK, I’ll admit that I’m strangely compelled to see this movie, although I don’t see how it can possibly be campy enough to live up to its reputation. That said, I think this clip on YouTube says what we’re all thinking.
Uhh… wow.
You may be familiar with mashups, but this has to take the cake. It’s a mashup from three music instruction videos.

And just so I don’t seem like a bandwidth hog, the original page in context is here. (Even though I’m being less of a bandwidth hog by linking straight to the video because I’m not forcing you to download three long QuickTime movies simultaneously! But don’t get me wrong; all three are worth watching… as long as you have broadband.)
Very cool idea. Gets a little stale (and not as well-executed) by the end, but still impressive. And of course, Beaver Felton is the guy who sold me my Music Man StingRay 5. (True, I bought it from his shop, not him personally, but I did have direct contact with him personally both by email and on the phone. Not that that makes me cool or anything.)
